Member spotlight: Tisha Morris and the Tisha Morris blog

Tisha’s business is Mind Body Home. The mission of Mind Body Home is to harmonize the built environment with the Earth’s energy for the optimal well-being of its occupants. Tisha says: “I blend the beauty and aesthetics of interior design with the ancient science of feng shui and modern aspects of green design, along with taking into consideration the effects of our own human energy in the space. Like a living body, spaces are viewed holistically in order to optimize the environment on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.”

Tisha says her blog  is definitely a more free expression of herself. “With a varied background of practicing law, interior design, yoga, energy healing, spiritual counseling and feng shui, I have lots of interests! My blog allows me to play around with any of these interests as they come to me. Ideas, philosophies, and insights come to me frequently. Instead of boring my significant other and friends with these, I write them on my blog. Whether people read my posts or not is not the point. The point is to give me an outlet for these inspirations. If someone benefits, then all the better!

We asked Tisha to share her blogging journey so far:

When did you start blogging?
January 2009. I came across an article in Psychology Today that featured Leo Babauta of Zen Habits. I was inspired.  A week later I started blogging. It was a natural fit for me.

What’s been the most challenging for you when it comes to blogging?
The technology learning curve has definitely been the most challenging aspect of blogging. I suppose I could have hired someone, but I like the creative control too much.

Why are you blogging?
Having a forum for freedom of expression is the main reason I am blogging. Secondly, I believe that I have information, experiences, and insights from which others can benefit. From a business marketing standpoint, blogs are a great way to direct traffic to your website. From my limited experience, blogs are more search engine friendly than a typical website. Blogs are alive with energy!

What’s your best blogging tip for others?
One of the best things about blogging (and social networking) is that it is an immediate and true example of the principle “what you put out, you get back”. The quantity and quality of the response that you get from an audience will be proportional to the positive comments, tweets, content, etc. that you put out there. So, my best tip would be to compliment, comment, and acknowledge fellow bloggers, entrepreneurs, colleagues and that’s what you will get in return. Being competitive simply doesn’t work in this business (or probably anywhere anymore).

How has blogging helped your business?
The success of my business is a direct result of what I put into it energetically. And so blogging has helped me express myself creatively for the world to see. What could be a better marketing plan than that? And with virtually no cost!

What are your favourite blogs?
www.zenhabits.net  ~ great consistent content with a clean simple interface.

www.thepioneerwoman.com - beautiful, inspiring photos

www.copyblogger.com - great marketing tips

And www.flokka.com -of course! Great purpose and compilation of content

What has been the best comment you’ve received so far?
At one point I was beginning to question myself with regards to the amount of time I was putting in blogging when I received the comment… “I just found your blog. It’s very thoughtful and calm. Keep writing please. “

What’s your own favourite/ most popular post you’ve written?
My favorite post has been “Finding Your Inner Guru” , although the most popular post has been “4 Steps to Create Your Personal Sanctuary”

Thanks Tisha!
